A Tenshigami Translation
7/29/08 The Elysion english patch has been updated to 0.91:
7/23/08 Years later, I have returned from the dead. Bikkuriman World at this point is dropped until further notice. Instead, I have nearly finished the translation of a different game. I have decided to publicly release my beta patch for Elysion on the NES. All that remains for this project is beta testing to find any remaining bugs and fix any translation inaccuracies. If you find any bugs, just send me an e-mail. You can download the patch here. Now that I've done work on something other than Bikkuriman World, I'll have to redesign this website eventually. It'll need to be redesigned from the ground up, though, as it's currently VERY outdated.
12/12/06 Holy crap! It's been 3 years! Yup, I gave up on Bikkuriman for 3 whole years. I only just recently decided to come back to it, starting from scratch. I've taken some Japanese classes in the 3 years since I last worked on it, but that was still a while ago, so my Japanese, while better than it was, is rusty. I had to relearn a little of the romhacking, as well. I lost all my work on the project over those three years, other than that piece of crap I called a teaser patch. Within a little less than a week, I've gotten quite a bit done, but not as much as I got done on the teaser patch. I used a font available in a font pack on Zophar's Domain this time, instead of DRAWING in my own font. The effect is rather nice. The base in-game menu looks a bit different now. I went with using 'Srch' instead of Seek this time, as it just looks and sounds better even though 'search' isn't even typed in as a full word. I also started with RIRYOKU being translated as Pwrs (Powers), then decided on Tech, which has been used in games before. When I noticed the church priest in the untranslated japanese version using RIRYOKU a lot, I changed it to 'Mana' to indicate some sort of Holy Magic. It's four letters, fits the idea, and is related to my favorite SNES game of all time, Secret of Mana. Gasi (short for Gassei on the japanese menu) has been actually TRANSLATED this time and the option now reads 'Fuse', short for Fusion. I could go on and on, but I realize any of this could all get changed again later on. RedComet on the RomHacking.net forums has offered to try at some Assembly hacking of the game when he has the time later this month. Hopefully we can get DTE coded into the game, or RedComet's godly Huffman compression scheme. Bikkuriman World has NO FREE SPACE, so without DTE or Huffman I have no extra space to fall back on when I need to make a line longer than the original japanese, which is quite often. I've managed so far, but it hasn't been easy.
